Sunbathe in Spain or Safari in South Africa, It’s Your Choice

 - by Rober

There are plenty of holidays I have tried – soaking up the sun in Spain, braving the roller coasters in America and  walking in Wales to name but a few.

However, I still have a few different experiences I would love to try.   One of them is gambling in Las Vegas. One of my friends has just returned from there and so far I can’t get her to stop talking about it as she enjoyed it so much. It’s true that you can gamble 24 hours a day. She said that although she had lost a lot of money, she had sensibly set herself a daily limit, so didn’t really mind as the whole experience of Las Vegas was fantastic.

I would really like to experience a safari holiday.

Safaris are meant to be absolutely fabulous.   On a recent visit to Florida, I visited their Animal Kingdom Park and got a little taster of what a safari might be like. The problem with anything run by Disney is that everything is so controlled and even though there are lots of animals you never get that close. It must be such a wonderful experience to go on a safari and get up so close to such wonderful creatures.   I bet that must feel absolutely exhilarating.

Holidays to South Africa are certainly gaining in popularity and are a great holiday choice.

If the truth be told though, much as I would love to go on a safari holiday, the thing that really puts me off is all those horrible spiders.   I honestly can’t stand the things.   They absolutely petrify me.It’s stupid when you compare their size to mine. It’s the fact that they seem to be able to run so fast on their big fat hairy legs. Unfortunately my dread of spiders has rubbed off on the kids so my other half has spent many nights being woken by one of the kids screaming that there is a spider in their bedroom.

A little word of warning though, whatever you do DO NOT vacuum up a spider into a paper hoover bag. My mother in law did this once and a little while later she couldn’t understand why the hoover bag was moving around so much. The spider had decided the hoover bag was as good a place as any to have her babies, so there were hundreds of spiders. It was absolutely hilarious and an experience she is keen never to repeat.

Now if somebody could guarantee me a safari without spiders, I would be there like a shot. If not, then it looks like somehow I am going to have to work at overcoming my fear.   It’s strange a huge animal like a lion doesn’t worry me, just a tidily spider!!
